The 9th annual European Forum on Electronic Signature took place on June 03 - 05, 2009 in the Amber Baltic Hotel in Miêdzyzdroje, Poland. The honorary patronage of EFPE 2009 was assumed by the Minister of Economy and the Vice-Prime Minister Mr. Waldemar Pawlak as well as the European Committee for Standardization (CEN).

The conference was organized by Unizeto Technologies SA, KIR SA, Polish Security Printing Works SA (PWPW SA) and West-Pomeranian Technical University.

The currently largest annual conference dedicated to PKI and e-signature issues was attended by over 100 participants from 15 countries of Europe and Asia, representetives of the European Commission, Polish and foreign Certification Authorities, Polish ministires of Economy, Finance, Foreign Affairs, Interior and Administration as well as National Bank of Poland.

This year's leading topic of the conference was “Role of electronic signature in information society – slogan or real need”. Particular role apart from lectures, presentations and practical workshops was carried by discussions and polemics during two Round Table Discussions. Participants were representing administration and business and were discussing on the topics relating to current issues:

  1. “Project of act on electronic signatures in Poland – what are we really heading for, will the e-signature be common and popular or not?” (in the context of latest project of act on e-signatures of 25.05. 2009) and
  2. “E-signature in Europe and in the world - cross-border information exchange. Consequences of European Union directive on services in the internal market.” (in the context of compliance of Polish act on e-signatures with European regulations).
